Library Media Center

PURPOSE

The Library Media Center (LMC) is meant to be an extension of the classroom. Once a week, each class will meet with the Library Media Specialist, or LMS, to practice their information literacy skills. Students will strive to become effective digital citizens and researchers.

CIRCULATION PROCEDURES

The loan period for books is two weeks.

The books may be renewed if no hold has been requested by another student.

LOST OR DAMAGED MATERIALS

In the unfortunate situation a library book is damaged or lost, a fine may be issued on the student's library account.

Library staff will attempt to repair damaged items, but books will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Fines are based on the original purchase price of the library book.

Check out privileges may be suspended or reduced to one item on loan at a time until the replacement fee of a damaged or lost book has been received.

For lost items, the fee will be requested after a search by the student and the LRC staff has been conducted.

If the lost item is found within a reasonable amount of time after payment, the payment may be reimbursed.

In some cases, a replacement may have already been ordered and a refund would not be issued.

BOOK FAIRS

Each teacher will have the opportunity to create a “wish list” of items parents can see.  All profits go towards purchasing additional LRC materials for all to use. For the book fair, students have the opportunity to preview the books and create a wish list to share.  Parents are never under any obligation to make purchases from the fair.  Many titles from the fair are purchased for our library and made available to our students.
