About me...
My passion as an educator lies in special populations; the students on the fringes of classrooms that are often underserved. In addition to teaching social studies, English and personal development for students with Autism and Social Emotional disorders, I have served as the Gifted & Talented Coordinator for K-12, the CLD liaison for middle school, and as a special education case manager. My first leadership role was as an 8th grade department head. From there I moved on to lead the special education and gifted programs and am currently serving as the MTSS and Testing Coordinator at PVHS. I strive to be innovative in my approach to learning and assessment so that all students can learn to think critically and demonstrate their understanding in a variety of ways. I also serve as the GSA co-sponsor for our high school because LGBTQ+ students are statistically more likely to fall behind in school than their straight, cis-gendered peers.
My passions as a human are numerous! I love to learn and I often spend as much time as a learner as I do an educator. I volunteer for several non-profit organizations including Global Down Syndrome Foundation, Special Olympics Colorado, GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Educators Network), Gigi's Playhouse, American Legion Auxiliary, and the National Down Syndrome Congress. I wholeheartedly believe that one must be the change they want to see in the world. In my spare time you can find me spending time with my family or with a book in my hands near the water.
