A service provider or special education teacher may request to trial a device, switch, toy, or other AT equipment for a period of six weeks (if it is not already checked out). The equipment may be picked up at the ESC or dropped off at the site of your choice upon request to Tina Swarr (tswarr@sd27j.net). If no one is on the waiting list for the equipment at the end of six weeks, you may renew the item for an additional six weeks. If something you request is currently checked out, you will be put on a waiting list and will be notified when the equipment is returned. At the end of the trial period, an email will be sent and the SWAAAC team will come pick up the equipment. Specific toys, devices, and equipment cannot be guaranteed for the entire school year.
If the item you would like to try is not available through the 27J SWAAAC Loan Library, it may be available through the State of Colorado SWAAAC Loan Library. Please ask a SWAAAC representative for assistance to request loaned items. The State Loan Library works in the same manner as the 27J Loan Library.
If 27J does not have an item you need, you may check with the state loan bank. When you find the item that you would like, let Monica Petersen (mpetersen@sd27j.net) know and she will check it out.
