What is a school counselor?

School Counselors promote the educational success of students by enhancing the development of:

  • Student self esteem

  • Decision-making life skills

  • Problem solving strategies

What does a school counselor do?

Our service to the school includes:

  • Meeting with students in small groups and individually regarding crisis intervention, friendship and social skills, anger management, behavior management, and success in the classroom

  • Working together with parents, teachers, and community agencies to provide student support

  • Providing instruction on bully prevention, conflict resolution, identifying and managing feelings, being a good listener, having 'grit,' and personal safety

How can your child see the counselor:

  • Self-referral

  • Teacher or school staff referral

  • Parent referral
