Social Studies

In Social Studies, we will cover Ancient Civilizations and Civics this year. Students will use the G.R.A.P.E.S. acronym to study the Geography, Religion, Achievements, Politics, Economy, and Social Structure of each Ancient Civilization. Civilizations that we will cover include Mesoamerica, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Byzantine Empire, Medieval Times, the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Enlightenment/Scientific Revolution, Colonization, and the Industrial Revolution. Civics topics that we will cover include: the Foundations of Government, the Function of Government, and the Roles of Citizens.
