It was a great honour to welcome over 3,500 people into the Academy for our open mornings and evenings this term. Families were toured by our amazing year 8 students, who were able to share their own experiences and answer questions as they went around. Families had the opportunity to learn about our school values which underpin everything that we do, from our Principals speech, learn about our board curriculum, and our forever-growing enrichment programme across KS3 - KS5.
It would not have been as enjoyable unless families were able to engage in a range of activities during our evening event; it was great to see families involved in playing basketball and making stickers just to name a few. The feedback whilst families visited our darkroom and digital media suite reminded us how grateful we are as an Academy to have such wonderful facilities. We would like to extend our appreciation to all our student ambassadors that supported us throughout; you were fantastic.
To have students support us during this event provides them with opportunities to execute their leadership qualities, their ability to be team players and develop their oracy. It is also important to acknowledge how this experience allows students to build on their confidence and knowledge about the academy, which will enable them to prepare for their next key stage.
