In November 2022, 66 year 7 students from Ashdown School had the amazing opportunity to watch the enthralling West End Musical 'The Lion King'.
This was a chance for the students to develop their love and appreciation for the arts and develop their understanding of different styles of theatre.
The students were mature, upholding the SCWA culture of fellowship, showing respect and care for their peers and members of the public. Once at the theatre, the excitement among the students could not be contained as the lights dimmed and the all too familiar tune of 'Circle of Life' began to play. Throughout the play the students showed appreciation of the piece and respect for the other members of the audience and were even complimented by a couple stating 'I've never seen a group of students so well behaved during a show'.
This trip would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of Mr Warburton and the staff who volunteered their time to support this wonderful experience. I would like to thank Ms Awoberu, Ms Fasan, Ms Nidai, Ms Jennings, Ms Dolby, Ms Khanom and Mr Kenny for their support.
This was a valuable experience as it gave the students an opportunity to see a West End performance, which not only presents a high standard of theatre and performance, but also a performance that introduces them to a completely different cultural experience.
Ruby "Miss It was so good! I cried!"
