STUDENT POLICIES & PROTECTIONS
All students have the right to feel safe and affirmed at school. This policy seeks to meet the unique needs of LGBTQ+ youth throughout the district, and covers:
Protection from bullying and harassment.
The right to privacy regarding personal identity information.
The right to be referred to by affirmed name and pronouns both in person and in student information systems.
Access to gender-segregated and gender-neutral spaces, (bathrooms, locker rooms, sports teams, etc.)
To connect with someone in the LGBTQ+ Support Services Program about how to navigate your rights or how to uphold the policy, please complete this form.
In order to engage in social justice activism, it's important to understand the kinds of laws and policies that are in place to protect marginalized communities along with understanding what's missing. It can be a lot! Visit the ACLU to get a breakdown on what bills are being introduced in the US, and what they mean for the LGBTQ+ community.
The LGBTQ+ Support Services Program continues to grow and evolve based on the expressed needs of our students and the community at large. Our work would not be possible without the contributions of those who came before us and created the LGBTQ+ Task Force.
The Task Force is open to our community partner organizations, district staff, students, and dedicated community members.
