A Learning Ecosystem is a holistic approach for developing an effective and efficient learning experience for the success of all students. Through a collaborative approach, the Department of Instructional Technology leverages our Model Mustang competencies to examine our pedagogical practices, educational platforms, and technology. While the district utilizes many instructional programs (both tech-based and traditional) to further our district goal of "Academic Achievement and Growth", our instructional technology components of our Learning Ecosystem can be broken down into three categories; Student Information Systems (PowerSchool), Collection of Tools to Engage Learning (Google's G Suite for Education), and Instructional Software Access (ClassLink).
Through PowerSchool, Strongsville City Schools provides all stakeholders with the tools to communicate student performance. PowerSchool is a suite of programs that allows the district to efficiently manage instruction, learning, grading, attendance, assessment, analytics, state reporting, special education, student registration, and even our finances.
DISCLAIMER ABOUT MOBILE APP: Use of PowerSchool's official mobile app is not recommended by Strongsville City Schools. Please utilize a web browser to review items.
Strongsville City Schools is one of nine schools in the state of Ohio to be recognized as a Google Reference School. As an early adopter, we utilize Google's G Suite for Education; a diverse collection of programs to promote the 4 C's of 21st Century Skills (Critical thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity). Starting as early as Pre-Kindergarten, our students are provided @scsmustangs.org accounts to access these resources. Many of our additional programs integrate directly with these Google tools to enhance the learning experience. For example, teachers create presentations in Google Slides and turn them into engaging formative activities with Pear Deck.
New this year, to provide consistency throughout the district, Google Classroom is our LMS launching pad for our courses.
ClassLink is being rolled out as our new one-stop-shop for access to instructional programs for our students. No longer will students need to scour district websites for links to their class programs. A ClassLink portal automatically appears when a student logs into their Chromebook with a icon-based, user-friendly interface. This portal saves precious class time and eases student frustration by streamlining logins and passwords.
