All SCC faculty, residential and adjunct, have the opportunity to participate in instruction for teaching, course development and many more topics through the Center for Teaching and Learning course offerings below.
Canvas Basics
Canvas Basics 101 is the starting point for all Canvas users. Whether faculty or staff, there is something for everyone in Canvas Basics 101. You will be on the way to being a Canvas expert after completing this training course. Keep this course on your Canvas Dashboard and refer back to it when you need a refresher.
Blueprint Training
The Blueprint Training course describes SCC's student-centered consistent course navigation. The course highlights the required components of the Canvas navigation menu, the Syllabus page, and the Welcome module. The Blueprint Training course is entirely self-paced.
Adjunct Faculty Essentials
This course is available to assist Adjunct Faculty with navigating the need to know items, processes, procedures and helpful hints for teaching and learning at Scottsdale Community College.
SCC Rubrics Resource
This resource course explains what rubrics are, how to use them to enhance learning, and the details of using rubrics in Canvas. Additionally, this resource course offers multiple examples of rubrics.
Strategies for Student Retention
This course examines the Completion By Design Loss/Momentum Framework and the interventions, measurements, and outcomes found in the SCC pilot project that applied the Loss/Momentum framework at the course level. Participants examine their own course to identify and reflect on loss and momentum points and create a plan for improvement.

Online Teaching Essentials
This course, commonly referred to as "OTE," teaches basic instructional design principles and accessibility requirements. The course provides faculty with practical information and best practices for teaching online. The course stresses universal design practices while ensuring courses meet accessibility standards. The principles covered in this course can be applied to fully online courses.

Inclusive Course Design
In this workshop, using mini-lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and experiential activities, participants will discuss the Peralta Diversion and Equity Rubric and design ideas and strategies to apply it to their course. Participants will then develop strategies to incorporate and address the issues presented in the rubric to their online courses.

Bootcamp & Design Program
In this 8-week course, participants examine and re-design one course that they plan to teach online or hybrid. Participants explore instructional design concepts, andrological models, delivery methods, and course structures. Participants also review and sequence course competencies, examine assessments, and develop instructional techniques for student engagement.

Level Up Bootcamp
In this 8-week course, participants gain information and ideas about ways to introduce fresh content into their course, show a strong presence, boost student interaction and offer authentic means for students to show content mastery. Participants explore methods and tools to increase engagement with content and create new content for their course that follows these practices.
