Hi, I am Lana Vance and am super excited to be teaching Science and Alabama History this year. I am in the pod with Mrs. Dobbins and Mrs. Rogers. This year begins my 27th year of teaching in the classroom! I graduated from Scottsboro High School in 1990 and Judson College in 1994. I started at Brownwood in 1994 as the lead teacher in Extended Day. I started the next year there as an aide in 4th grade (and Mrs. Dobbins was in my class). In November I was hired as a 2nd grade teacher at Nelson. I taught 2nd grade until 2008 when I started teaching 4th grade at Caldwell. I moved to Collins in 2018 with all of the other 4th grade teachers.

I am married to Jerry Vance and we attend Eastside Church of Christ. My husband is a police officer here in Scottsboro. We have 3 children. Jake is our youngest. He is 17 and plays football. Sarah is 18 and just graduated from SHS. Bridget is 28. She is married and has a little girl, Jaycie who is 4 years old. They live in Addison, Alabama. Then there is Millie, our dog. She is a German Shepard Lab mix and thinks she is our 4th child.

I have several hobbies. I love to spend time with my family traveling and exploring new places. I enjoy reading, cooking, sewing, painting and gardening.

I am so excited to be back in the classroom after a crazy spring. We have lots of fun things planned for this year. I can not wait to see what this year brings us!
