Students attending Scott County High School and Phoenix Horizon Community will find themselves supported by the Birds Nest Youth Service Center (YSC). The goal of the YSC is to help break down any barriers to help students be successful at school, at home and within their community. This is accomplished by providing a unique blend of services and programs to students at school while also linking students with resources within the community to empower the student and their family. The main office is located in Room 101 at Scott County High School with another office located at Phoenix Horizon Community.
Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC) were created as a part of the Kentucky Education Reform Act, or KERA, in 1990. All centers are funded through the state in the form of a grant. The main purpose of the centers is to enhance students' abilities to succeed in school by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote early learning and successful transition into school, academic achievement, and graduation and transition into adult life.
