Mr. Hearn grew up playing in bands with friends around central New York. He began playing out professionally while in college at the Crane School of Music. After graduating, he played drums and percussion in shows for Music Theater North (summer stock theater in Potsdam) which led to two 3 month tours of Europe with The Scala Theater Group. After returning home Mr. Hearn started his teaching career at South Colonie where he teaches band at Lisha Kill Middle School. His students have attended regional and state wide music festivals including Suburban Council, Area All-State and Conference All-State.
Mr. Hearn has been an active member of the capital region music scene over the last 25 years performing and/or recording with The Jon Leroy Trio, The Dave Fisk Quartet, Tas Cru, Arc, The Silver Arrow Band, The Tom Healey Band, Charlie Smith Blues Band, The Karen Lawrence Band, Scotty Mac, Jeff Gonzales, Schenectady Light Opera, The Schenectady Symphony Orchestra, and The Capital Region Wind Ensemble. He has performed concerts at Alive at Five Concert Series, Time Warner TV show The Sounding Board, Jazz on Jay Street, Proctors Theater, as well as some music festivals in the Northeast.
Recent recording credits include the Joe Finn Trio Plus One “Generational Dynamics” and Tas Cru’s “Memphis Song” and “Drive On”. The Tas Cru recordings have received regular airplay on the B.B. King's Bluesville station on XM Radio!
Mr. Hearn love's spending time with his wife and two children, hiking, biking, kayaking, learning new things and helping his students learn more about music!

Mr. Miller grew up in Greece, NY. He had wonderful music teachers from elementary school through high school and parents who did everything they could to encourage his musical gifts. As a member of the Greece Athena Music Program he was exposed to Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble and Choral repertoire that were his biggest inspiration to study music. He also performed in these ensembles with many extraordinary classmates, some who have gone on to be professional musicians, singers, artists and actors. Mr. Miller also had some incredible trumpet teachers most notably Andrew McCandless who is currently Principal Trumpet of the Toronto Symphony.
After graduation in 1993, he began studying music at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. He received his Bachelors Degree in 1997 and Masters Degree in 2002. His trumpet teacher, Mr. Frank Campos and conducting and education professor Dr. Mark Fonder were his biggest inspirations to dedicate his life to music education. Mr. Miller is very proud of his Ithaca College education and has said many times that the program has prepared him for ANYTHING he has experienced as a music educator.
Mr. Miller's teaching career began in 1997 in Newburgh, NY at North Junior High School. During his time in Newburgh he worked with many talented students and had a variety of teaching experiences. He brought bands to NYSSMA Majors and various band festivals and prepared students for a yearly Jazz Festival featuring Chris Vadala. Several of his students went on to become professional musicians, performing artists and music educators. While living in Newburgh he was an active performer with the Orange County Wind Ensemble, Local Union Marching Band and New York Swing Exchange.
His South Colonie teaching career began in 2006 at Colonie Central High School. During that time he worked with many talented students who were members of the Suburban Council, Area All State and Conference All State Bands. As the director of the Colonie Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble he lead some groups to achieve a NYSSMA Gold Rating and a Superior Rating at a Music in the Parks festival. Several of his Colonie students have gone on to be successful music educators and performers. He has been at Lisha Kill since 2012 and has loved the opportunity to work with beginning band students and help them as they grow into successful musicians and people. Mr. Miller has continued to perform in the Capital Region as a member of the Swing Docs Big Band, Gloversville Winds, Gloversville Community Band and at Christ our Light Church.
Mr. Miller loves spending time with his wife and chocolate lab Louie. His primary interests include, football and baseball, cooking, gardening, fishing and travel.
