Welcome families and students!!

I'm looking forward to my 7th year with the Scio students and families.

Reading Classes focus on learning strategies and improving skills to increase their overall reading comprehension so they can be successful in all other classes.

8th Grade Language Arts

class will focus on fine-tuning their reading, writing, and speaking/listening skills through novel studies, analysis of poetry, individual and group projects, and learning real life ELA skills.

ASL 1 & 2 Elective

Students will learn the basics of conversational American Sign Language, the history of ASL and about Deaf Culture, the alphabet, numbers, and over 350 words in each class. ASL 2 will focus more on conversational skills.

Yearbook Elective Students will learn basic photography skills, graphic design, and photojournalism. They will use these skills to create an awesome yearbook.

Photography Elective

Students will learn digital photography basics , the history of photography, how a digital camera works, photographic composition, and how to make stop-motion animation.

Advisory

Once per week, on Wednesdays, students will have an extra class called Advisory. During this class, we will focus on building character through a curriculum called Character Strong.
