We are excited to announce that the STEAM for Justice and Community: Youth Action Summit will return for our 4th year. This event is a space for high school students to showcase their projects at the intersection of STEAM topics and justice/community action. We are working on planning another great event for our youth to learn from one another and community members at the intersection of these topics. For more information on the types of projects applicable to the event and event participation please visit our Student Participant Info page.
Continuing on from last year, we will have an Arts portion. In 2024, we expanded from STEM to STEAM to showcase how STEM, art, and justice/community action can come together. For more information on this new category please visit our Student Participant Info page.
For more information on the 2025 event check the 2025 Event Page. The event is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, May 29th, 4-6 pm. The event will remain virtual.
For secondary school students (middle and high school), we have 2 ways to get involved during the STEAM for Justice and Community summit. Go to the Student Information and Registration page to learn more about each participation option and to register.
Any secondary school student is invited to participate in the event to learn about the different action projects showcased throughout the summit. Register to participate by Monday, May 26th!
If you are already working on or intend to work on a project that is at the intersection of STEM, community service, and social justice, share your work with others at the summit! We are looking for students or student groups/clubs to present their work during the poster session. Individual students or groups (clubs or organizations) can sign up to present. All Presenters will be awarded the '2025 Fred Hutch STEAM for Justice and Community Presenter Certificate'.
Important Dates:
Submit your project by Wednesday, May 21st
We will reach out to those selected by Friday, May 23rd
Posters must be submitted by Monday, May 26th
We will be reviewing project submissions on a rolling basis. Projects submitted early will receive notice of acceptance to the event earlier and will have more time between the notice and the poster due date. Please keep this in mind when submitting your project.
Educators and people who are working at the intersection of STEAM and social justice/community action are welcome to attend the summit as community members and learn about student action during the poster session. For more information on how to get involved, please go to the Community Members page.
Thank you to the 2024 presenters for sharing your projects and proposals!
