go to https://www.nctm.org/Classroom-Resources/Illuminations/Interactives/Geometric-Solids/
"Select a Shape: My Own Net"
Play around a bit to figure out how it works. You will be creating your own net of a prism.
Pick a Polygon shape to use as your base, and drag it over to the work area.
Triangles and square are easier bases to work with, pentagons and heptagons will be trickier if you are up for a challenge.
Attach sides to your base by dragging squares over and attaching them to each edge of the base.
Attach a top shape by dragging over the same shape you used as your base, and attach it to one of the side squares.
To Print your Net:
Click "Print".
Right-click the mouse off to the side of your resulting page.
Select "Print"
Print to "MRI-RM200P"
If you are unable to print, select Destination: "Save as PDF". Save the document to the H: Drive under Taylor "H:\Taylor", using your name for the File Name.
Once your net is printed out, you will be calculating the surface area and volume of your shape.
Assume that each edge (side) is 3 cm in length.
If you picked a pentagon, assume that the distance from the middle of an edge to the middle of the pentagon is 2 cm.
If you picked a hexagon, assume that the distance form the middle of an edge to the middle of the hexagon is 2.6 cm.
