SUPPORT SERVICES

P.S. 22 offers a range of support services to cater to the diverse needs of our students. These services include speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy (which require a doctor's evaluation and prescription), as well as hearing and vision screening. We also provide after-school programs, English as a New Language (ENL) services, guidance counseling, and various special education services.

During the school year, there may come a time when it is beneficial for teachers and parents/guardians to consider seeking the assistance of our dedicated support personnel. In such cases, we will seek your written permission if we believe your child may benefit from any of the services mentioned above.

ENL – English as a New Language

Our ENL program serves both general and special education students in kindergarten through fifth grade. It is designed to provide additional support and guidance to students who are learning English as a new language.

Pupil Personnel Team (PPT)

The PPT is a dedicated team that evaluates students who may be at risk and designs individualized academic intervention and support programs. This team comprises administrators and various support service professionals who work together to ensure every child receives the assistance they need to thrive academically.

Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS)

Special Education Support Services (SETSS) are available to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and those who are eligible for additional support. These services are provided under the guidance of our Special Education Department, with the aim of meeting the unique needs of each student.

School Based Support Team (SBST)

Our SBST is comprised of a psychologist and a social worker. Beyond their role in evaluating students for Special Education services, these professionals also offer essential support services to all students and their parents/guardians. Their dedication ensures that our school community receives the comprehensive support it needs.
