The 2025 preseason is wild, with new signings and amazing players! Teams are all ramping up by signing, drafting, and training players to win the World Series. The anticipation builds as MLB's opening day is Thursday, March 27. Now, let's jump right into some updates!
The New York Yankees went to the World Series in 2024 but failed to win against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hal Steinbrenner, owner of the New York Yankees, removed the facial hair policy to “well-groomed beards.” After discussing the preferences and norms of today's athletes. The Pinstripes (Yankees) want to come back from their World Series loss, so they are looking at eight-time All-Star and ten-time Gold Glove winner Nolan Arenado. Arenado, a third baseman for the Cardinals, is hoping to catch their attention. The Yankees are also signing the seven-time All-Star, a former Cardinals Player, Paul Goldschmidt. He has an illustrious career and has won many Silver Slugger awards, as well as Gold Glove awards. Goldschmidt has also played in the World Baseball Classic. The Yankees want to sign Goldschmidt to boost their lineup for the upcoming season.
The New York Mets have failed against the Dodgers in the National League Championship. But you better not mess with the Mets because they are returning stronger than ever with the richest owner in MLB, Steve Cohen. Cohen made a record-breaking, historic 15-year contract for 765 million dollars with superstar former Yankee Juan Soto! Soto is expected to make a huge impact on the Mets’ performance. Another former Yankees closer, Clay Holmes, is going for the Mets, proving himself worthy of being a starting pitcher. Rumors say Sandy Alcántara is going for the Mets in a trade. He is also a good player, a two-time All-Star, and the 2022 National League Cy Young Award winner. Alcántara could be a valuable addition to the Mets' pitching rotation.
As of now, The Yankees and The Mets are both trailing behind other teams in spring training, but don't worry, training games don't count the same way seasonal games do! Both teams are raining down home runs in their training and working hard. The pitching of the Yankees is great, as players like Hareen and Cole are throwing some heat. On the Mets, Holmes is doing well by proving his worth to the Mets to be a starter. The Mets have a tight schedule with 16 games at Clover Park in Saint Lucie, Florida. They should be in very good shape by the time both teams finish.
It's looking like we have an exciting season ahead!
