With thousands of protesters dead on June 3rd and June 4th, the People's Liberation Army, is in full control of Beijing. On June 5th, an anonymous man carrying what appears to be groceries stops a line of tanks heading to the square. At first, a tank tries to swerve around the man but the man seems diligent in stopping the tank and steps in front of it. Eventually, all the tanks stop moving and we see the man climb onto the tank. He starts speaking with the driver before two other unknown bystanders drag him away. We don't know what was said and we never find out the identity of the man. However, his protests to stand up to the tanks spoke volumes around the world. He becomes known as the "Tank Man," and his heroic stand made him develop into an icon for freedom and defiance worldwide, as he bravely stood up to power much greater than himself.
