Maria Rosario grew up in the South Bronx. She has a Bachelor's degree in English and Early Childhood Education. She has an MS .Ed. in K-12 School Counseling from CUNY / Lehman College K-12 and is a licensed New York State School Counselor. Her education and training has focused on the American School Counselor Association’s (ASCA) National model and the Strengths-Based School Counseling framework.
Maria has worked for the Department of Education since 2000. Before becoming a school counselor, she was an educational paraprofessional. She eventually became a school secretary. Maria believes in the power of listening and counseling. In 2016, after she had finished putting her three children through college, she decided to pursue her dream and applied to Lehman College's School Counselor Masters program.
As a strong believer in the power of advocacy, Maria established a Student Council to focus on student self-expression. In her free time, Maria enjoys dancing, exercising, reading and spending time with family and friends.
