Supported by Studio Institute, the program promotes art history scholarship for high school seniors, connects them with Museum of Modern Art educators, shares Studio Institute resources for college-bound students, and grants awards to exemplary researchers. This inquiry-based project begins with seniors identifying topics of personal interest that lead to the pursuit of scholarly research. A slideshow with excerpts from the 2022 student research papers can be viewed below. A call for participating schools will be sent out by October 2024.
Since 1999, the Dedalus Foundation has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors from New York City public high schools who plan to attend college and have shown excellence in fine art. The Foundation provides up to 7 fine arts scholarships of $2,000 each to graduating seniors who intend to further their studies in fine arts or art history at an accredited college, university, or art school. The scholarship money must be used for school expenses. Application instructions will be sent to all high school visual arts teachers in Spring 2023.

Ezra Jack Keats Foundation encourages students in grades 3 - 12 to engage in author and illustrator studies, and to experience the imaginative solutions involved in creating picture books. This portfolio competition rewards exemplary portfolios of NYC public school graduating seniors. The 2022 recipients of the Rothko awards also may be viewed at www.dedalusfoundation.org . Application instructions will be sent to all high school visual arts teachers in Spring 2023.
Teen Programs provide New York City teens with the opportunity to explore art making, engage with the contemporary art world and artists, and connect with other teens from across the city. Since 1909, The School Art League has supported the visual arts education of New York City public high school students through programs and services that advance their knowledge and skills. The Saturday Art Career Workshops at The One Club for Creativity and the artist-led workshops at The Society of Illustrators introduce students to career opportunities in the arts. The School Art League also provides scholarships and awards to graduating students, and presents historical bronze medals to sophomores, juniors, and seniors for excellence in artistic achievement.
