Music teachers explore how to sustain welcoming, engaging in-person and remote music learning spaces for students to process and respond creatively to their lived experiences. In particular, teachers explore how to support students finding strength in their emerging identities as New Yorkers and as developing musicians. Participants examine how students' recognition of the various facets of their lives informs their perspectives and enriches their artistry.
Through a diverse series of virtual live tutorials and interactive workshops throughout the year, teachers learn and share how to:
support student social-emotional learning in and through music.
promote active and ongoing student engagement during in-person and remote sessions.
activate new technologies and curriculum resources for teaching and learning music.
foster responsive music making through discussion and reflection.
