Forehead

I stared at the empty paper in front of me. It stared at the empty person in front of it. I knew it was trying to make me look away and play with the other kids on this warm August evening. And I wanted to. I really wanted to. Maybe for just a few minutes…
No, I told myself. You got into this creative writing class by submitting masterful work. Are you going to quit now?! That was enough to convince me. Or was it? I was getting tangled up in my own words. Honestly, it was confusing.
“I’ll take a little break,” I muttered to myself. I plopped myself on the couch and turned on the TV. News, news, news, politics, news, news… There was nothing good to watch. I rubbed my forehead and went back to my desk. And I wrote. I wrote whatever I could think of.
No, me dije a mí mismo. ¡¿Vas a dejarlo ahora?!
