Mr. Sarkowicz is a Brooklyn native and lifelong lover of literature. He reads around 150 books a year, and countless magazines and journals. Mr. Sarkowicz earned his Masters in English as well as Secondary Education from Queens College, CUNY, and his Masters in Library Science from University of Albany, SUNY.
Mr. Sarkowicz reopened the Maxwell library in February of 2022, and since then has hosted numerous guests from the literary world as well as from other walks of life to expose students to as many possibilities for their futures as, well, possible.
Mr. Sarkowicz transitiioned into the library after 23 years of teaching writing and literature. In addition, he is also an Adjunct Professor at LaGuardia Community College, where he has taught writing for 30 years.
Mr. Sarkowicz loves to travel and has been to over a dozen countries, enjoys photography, attends live music events as well as plays guitar/piano and sings. He often says he is "the world's oldest living teenager" as he still likes comics, manga, horror movies and plays Dungeons and Dragons once a month!
