Do you want to do something different? Stand out in a crowd? Be part of something bigger than yourself? Be challenged mentally and physically? Give back to your community? Learn how to lead others? Then you should become a member of Curtis High School Naval Junior Officers Training Corps (NJROTC)!
NJROTC is the premier citizenship and leadership development program in the country and the only one of its kind in the Staten Island. We are 125 cadets strong and have something for everyone! From underwater robotics and network cyber security, to armed drill, color guards, physical fitness, drones and orienteering. Our students have the opportunity to excel in ways other high school courses just can't provide. And we have fun while we're doing it!
NJROTC, or Naval Science, is a regular class in the Curtis High School curriculum. Classes are held every day where we teach leadership skills, civics/federal and state government, history, and discuss current events and matters impacting the military and our national security as well as physical fitness. We encourage all cadets to maintain excellent physical fitness and teach them simple exercises they can do on a daily basis in order to improve their physical health. And Wednesdays are uniform days when all cadets wear their issued NJROTC uniform.
If you are interested in becoming a part of this challenging and rewarding program, talk to your counselor. And remember, Naval Science fulfills Physical Education (PE - so you don't have to take PE if you take Naval Science), and elective graduation requirements.
