The Benois Madonna was painted by da Vinci around 1478. Da Vinci portrays communication through this artwork by illustrating the relationship between the mother and the child. The painting shows a child playing with a flower that is being held by the mother. It is shown that the child is holding on to the mother's hand, signaling the mother to keep her hand in place so the child can play with the object. It is impressive how Da Vinci is able to illustrate communication between the mother and the child using the object as well as his artistic skills. However, the Benois Madonna is not the only painting that depicts this situation. Da Vinci created several versions of the mother and the child. Most even have Madonna in the painting's name.
