"SUNY" stands for State University of New York.
SUNY is a diverse network of public colleges around New York State which include both 2 and 4 year colleges.
Some of the schools may sound familiar like FIT or University at Albany.
There are 64 SUNY campuses located around New York, In every area, as shown here!

Note, there are only two SUNYs location in NYC: FIT and SUNY Maritime.
There are different types of schools listed here, but these are only the 4 year schools.
They are broken down into College of Technology schools (trains you for a specific job like mechanics) University Colleges (only undergraduate), and University Centers (with Graduate School).

Some 2 year campuses do not offer housing, and some schools can be as far as 7 hours from NYC.
FIT is considered a Community College since everyone applied for an Associates Degree first.
