For K and 1
For Grade 2
Today, we are going to be Programmers and program our robots to achieve their challenges (missions).
Understand the challenge
Collaborate with my teammates
Develop a plan
Use code cards
Code the algorithm into the robot
Test the code
Debug error code
Reflect on outcomes
A robot is a machine that is built to perform a certain job. They are programmed by people to be able to perform a task.
using a set of instructions to communicate with computers and robots. There are different coding languages and they all have different rules and uses, but they all give computers instructions on how to do specific tasks.
Coding Cards
a person that writes the code
Today, that is YOU!
a list of step by step instruction that you program into the computer in the correct order
error in your code
To fix your code
The "Go" Button activates your code - which means it tests your code.
******Remember to switch roles at different stations!!!***
Place your Robots side by side
Use the code cards to solve the dance challenge
Program them to do a duet dance challenge
Test your code
Set up a maze and scatter your hearts around the maze
Place your teddy bear at the start
Program your teddy bear to collect the hearts
How many hearts can your teddy bear collect?
program your bee to make a full turn around the heart
Can your Bee make more than one full turn?
How many turns can you make?
Build a heart wall
program your heart breaker to knock the hearts down
(6 players/3 teams)
Set up your game by placing the small cards randomly around your table
Place your heart robot on the start now card.
Place your big game cards face down near the start now cards
Hand out a programing sheet to each team and each team picks a big game card.
Use the arrows to figure out your code
Take turns programing your heart robot
If your heart robot gets to your destination properly you win a point.
