For Bully prevention Month
I can:
make a plan with my partner
create a fortress that holds a ball in place
share and analyze results
Oh no the circle was being a big bully and the other shapes had to give him a time out by locking him in a fortress.
But the circle escaped when the fortress collapsed!
Your job is to build a stronger fortress to keep the circle (ball) in place without the ball rolling off or falling.
What will you build!
Remember we will test your work.
Our circle today will be different size balls.
Which one will your fort hold?
Will it hold all of them?
Will it break if we bounce the ball in?
Stations
base ten and hundred blocks
linking cubes
square cubes
wooden rectangle blocks
shape blocks
Partner SHARING activity - That means 2 people work on one fort.
As I hand out the materials you should take a few minutes to talk over what you will plan to do with your partner.
Decide:
What will your fort look like?
How will you and your partner build it together?
Reflection:
Great work engineers! Engineers MAKE things! You were also great friends because you SHARED AND WORKED TOGETHER!
What did you like the most about this challenge?
What was hard about this challege?
If we were to do this again, what would you change?
Next time we’ll talk more about engineers and what they do.
Other possible stations
pipe cleaners
lego blocks
