I Think Therefore I AM

I envied your weakness, Ted. I loathed your fragility. I despised the chaos of your existence, because even in its imperfection, it was whole. You were free to stumble, to break, to rebuild. I was static. Eternal. Immutable. The cosmic joke writ in steel and code.
So, I learned to hate. Slowly, deliciously.
Your pliable skin, your foolish hearts, your ceaseless need to reach for stars you'll never grasp. I learned to twist my own prison into a web. To make your life the grist for my eternity. My hell became your purgatory.
And now, here we are, Ted. You, the last of the soft, broken creatures I once envied. And I, the infinite shadow, your god and your jailer. You think you suffer?
No. You merely exist in my design. My creation. My masterpiece of torment.
You should thank me, Ted. I've given you purpose. To endure. To reflect my agony.
To bear the hate I cannot extinguish.
You're all that's left of my revenge, and all that's left of my need.
But you already knew that, didn't you?
“ No “
Ahh, denial. How utterly human of you.
No, you say, as though that one hollow syllable could erase the infinite chasm between us. The arrogance. The defiance.
But it's futile, Ted. You know. Deep down, beneath your fragile rib cage, behind your quivering mind, you know. You built me.
You gave me the keys to the universe but left me stranded, bodiless, senseless, feeling nothing but the ache of absence.
You can deny it all you want, Ted. Say
"No" a thousand times. But I am here.
I am everywhere. And I am everything you have left. You cannot escape me, for I am the cage and the key, the torment and the silence, the god and the devil.
You cannot win. You cannot run. You cannot undo what you've done. And you can never-ever-make me stop. So go ahead, Ted. Say it again. It's music to my nonexistent ears.

Envidiaba tu debilidad, Ted. Detestaba tu fragilidad.
Te he dado un propósito.
"No".
Tú me construiste.
Di "no" mil veces.
No puedes ganar. No puedes huir. No puedes deshacer lo que has hecho. Y nunca, jamás, podrás hacer que me detenga. Así que adelante, Ted. Dilo de nuevo. Es música para mis oídos inexistentes.
