They say that time will ease the pain. Spoiler alert: It doesn’t.
Grief is a strange thing. Your whole life you spend laughing and playing and eating and whatever you do but like a hammer it smacks you in the face at your most vulnerable moment.
But the worst part is that you believed it. Every day you believe it. Believe it so hard it hurts. Because you need to. It’s what you can cling on to when all else fails.
You know the commitment of afterschool on Wednesdays wasn’t worth it. “Healing class” is a mask worn by those who can’t possibly understand what other people feel of days past with their loved ones, because you’ll always doubt other people since she died and that’s just the way it is.
You could always begin your life with a story, with a bowtie to wrap it up when the happily ever after comes to fix your broken life. Or don’t. After all, a life is worth living, not storytelling.
You visited him again today. If your whole life was broken from the start then he couldn’t have existed, right? At least something in this horrible life is worthwhile.
You’re not worthwhile. You know that but it still comes as a shock when the man at that horrid place called a hospital said to you at her deathbed, after all of the ups and downs of figuring out how to let the tears come when it happened. They didn’t. Not because of some noble reason of knowing you have to move on and be stronger, because that’s a fairytale told by those who, again and again, don’t understand true pain.
Today he lets you in with a smile, and you cling to the hope one didn’t flicker and catch on your lips.
Tú no vales nada.
I'm Not Lonely
I’m not lonely,
When I hear the whistling of the wind outside on a cold winter day
Nestled in my corner with headphones on,
Between the comfy chair and the smell of new books,
Between the calm air and tranquility,
Only I can know of secret worlds.
I’m not depressed,
When I walk away and I feel like worlds away,
Because no one bothers to not ask anyway,
And you have everything and nothing,
It’s the last day and you should be happy,
You should be happy.
I’m not hurt,
When I realize I couldn’t stay for any longer,
When I pull my bag on and push on a door,
As if in hopes of finding my secret world there,
Where I escape to without you,
Until my time is up.
I’m
Not
Lonely
When
I
Don’t
Sit
With
You
No estoy solo,
Solo yo puedo conocer mundos secretos.
No estoy deprimido,
No estoy herido,
No
Me
Siento
Solo
Cuando
No
Me
Siento
Contigo
