Ms. Laguardia - Special Education Intervention Teacher (Formerly IEP Teacher)
Provide individual and/or small group interventions for students who are not meeting grade level benchmarks, including students with IEPs (Individualized Education Programs);
Prepare for and participate in IEP meetings of students who are initially referred for special education services, especially for students they support with intervention;
Cover classes of special education teachers who are attending requested and mandated three-year reevaluations for their students;
Provide IEP mandated instruction to students with disabilities (e.g., SETSS, Integrated Co-Teaching, or special classes; preferably Literacy/ELA) for from one (1) to a maximum of five (5) periods a week.
Participate in meetings that focus on reviewing data to identify or adjust interventions for students who are not meeting grade level benchmarks.
Remaining instructional periods may be used for:
Administration of curriculum-based assessments for “at-risk” general education students;
Additional small group direct instruction/intervention;
Providing support to other teachers on research-based interventions and assessments.
Special Education Intervention teachers will also attend all professional learning required by the central Special Education Office; and
Collect pre/post assessment data and ongoing progress monitoring data and submit this data to the Central Special Education Office.
The teacher filling this assignment will not be used as a substitute or be part of the regular coverage pool. In the event that an uncovered class exists, the teacher filling this position will only be assigned to the class if those teachers in the regular coverage pool (teachers on preparation period or professional period) have been assigned for that period.
In addition, the teacher filling this assignment should not have other out of class assignments that would impact their ability to fulfill all necessary requirements of this assignment.
