Kindergarten

Kindergarteners will:

  • Calculate Storage Duration of potato varieties.
    • Learn and count the months of the year.
    • Apply number sense by placing the duration period data in order from least to greatest.
  • Participate in a Taste Test experiment designed by their 4th grade peers.

Notes for the Teacher:

  • All of the potatoes are harvested in September. Help students count from September to the indicated storage duration month (ex: January)
  • Students can count the number of months that the various types can remain in storage.
  • Ask students
    • What is storage duration?
    • Is storing potatoes for longer lengths a good thing if you are a farmer? Why?
    • Which potatoes can be stored the longest?
    • Which potatoes can be stored the shortest?
    • Can you make a list of these 5 potato types from shortest to longest storage durations?

Tasks for the Teacher/Students:

  • Place your shortest to longest duration results (pictures/document) in the shared "Results" tab of this website.
  • Take pictures of the fun and add them to the "Results" tab of the website!
