TRIMESTER ONE

Course Requirements

• Documentation: All work must be photographically documented, either in a studio setting or in its planned living space, and emailed to me at the above address.
  
  

• Credit: To receive full credit for this class, you must complete all assignments.
  
  

• Flexibility: While you have great latitude in interpreting the scope of each piece, your work must clearly illustrate the intended project.
  
  

Assignments

1. Pinch Vase with a Drip
   
   

   • Pinch a vessel at least 6” tall.
     
     

   • Add a decorative drip.
     
     

2. Coil Pot with Textured Inlay
   
   

   • Build a slab from coils.
     
     

   • Roll the slab into a pot.
     
     

   • Pot must have a smooth interior and a coiled exterior.
     
     

3. Patchwork Textured Pitcher
   
   

   • Incorporate multiple textured slabs.
     
     

   • Construct a singular tall vessel.
     
     

4. Textured Rolling Stamp + Object
   
   

   • Build and carve a unique rolling stamp.
     
     

   • Create a piece that showcases the stamp.
     
     

   • Note: This is a two-part project and requires planning.
     
     

5. Roll a Slab, Pinch a Cat
   
   

   • Roll a slab.
     
     

   • Pinch a cat (or a yeti).
     
     

6. Wall Tile Relief
   
   

   • Take slabs into nature to replicate patterns found.
     
     

   • Build a backing so the piece can be professionally displayed.
     
     

7. Tag the School
   
   

   • Design and build a piece that can assimilate into any room in the building (hallways and bathrooms excluded).
     
     

   • The piece should be deliberate and add a pop of beauty to its environment.
     
     

8. Who is Bernard Leach?
   
   

   • Design and build a piece emulating the clay room’s namesake.
