Build a Hole
Build a functional object that has a hole passing through it.
Build for Fire
Build an object that requires fire (candle sconce, potpourri holder, incense burner).
Nerikomi
This is a traditional Japanese ceramic technique that involves layering, stacking, and manipulating colored clay to create intricate patterns and designs within the body of the ceramic piece.
Bowls
All students will build one bowl for a local fundraiser that benefits the Rhode Island Food Bank.
Lithographic Transfer
This is a printing process that will allow us to apply detailed images to our clay.
Self Portrait
Using our lithographic transfer process, make a self portrait onto a slab. For best results, I recommend printing no larger than 4x6. The portrait can begin with any medium (photograph, charcoal drawing, acrylic paint, Anime, etc.).
Frame your portrait
Using any combination of hand building techniques, build a frame to display your portrait.
Tag the School
Being mindful of your creative working space, design and build a piece that can be assimilated into any room in the building (hallways and bathrooms are excluded). This piece should be deliberate and add a pop of beauty to the space where it is installed.
