Objectives of this Utah History class is for students to:
Make evidence-based inferences about Utah’s ancient cultures using artifacts.
Analyze causes and effects of European-American exploration and its consequences for Utah’s indigenous peoples.
Explain how agriculture, railroads, mining, and industry shaped communities and economies in Utah.
Ask meaningful questions, gather evidence, and use it to support conclusions—whether writing or presenting in class.
Below are the units and topics we will be studying. Each unit has an "end-of-unit" project that will foster a deeper connection to the content for the student.
Unit 1- Prehistory to 1847: Indigenous Peoples & Early Exploration

Unit 3 – 1896–1945: Growth, Economy, & Change
End-of-unit project: Create a Newspaper
Unit 4 – 1945–2002: Modernization & Identity
End-of-unit project: Documentary or Photo Essay
Unit 5 – 2003–Present: Contemporary Utah
End-of-unit project: Civic Action Plan
