This is a helpful to see the units (#1-#5) visually. You can walk students through this as well and even show them the dates/calendar chunks allotted to each unit.
To be printed on thick card stock and cut in half. Teacher to fold each cut half length wise (hotdog style!) to make name card/plaque. Students will write their own name (and pronouns if desired) on first day of class. The back of the name card or the inside of the name card can be used as journal space during a class period for reflection/intention on the SDGs.

(Write down) What can you do this week to help one of the SDGs?
Let's try 4x4 breathing (BOX BREATHING) + write down one good thing that happened today. (Learn about 4x4 breathing here.)
Step 1: Breathe in counting to four slowly. Feel the air enter your lungs.
Step 2: Hold your breath for 4 seconds. Try to avoid inhaling or exhaling for 4 seconds.
Step 3: Slowly exhale through your mouth for 4 seconds.
Step 4: Repeat steps 1 to 3 until you feel re-centered.
Repeat this exercise as many times as you can. 30 seconds of deep breathing will help you feel more relaxed and in control.
(before class interview) Let's try 4x4 breathing (BOX BREATHING) + Let's set our intentions for the interview with ______ (guest speaker name)

Each student should get a half page with all questions. Teacher to put this on students' desks before class starts. Students should be told that these are the interview questions the whole class will be using to interview our guest. These questions should match the worksheet given on their desk.
(cut into strips - one question per student)
Teacher to cut each question into its own slip of paper. At the beginning of class, teacher should have each student randomly pick a question. (This will increase class buy-in and give ownership to each student by having them "own" a question for when the interview starts.)
During interview, each student will ask their question in order to the guest speaker. Teacher can facilitate.
One worksheet should be placed on each student's desk next to the full interview questions (half page). Before interview starts, teacher should go over the "Active Listening" section at the top. Teacher can ask students how ELSE they can be active listeners. Teacher can remind students that during THIER own individual interview, they should be taking notes as well. "Writing answers on this worksheet as we listen to the interview, will help us practice taking notes and practice active listening."
DURING the interview, the teacher can pause after each question, and summarize the answer from the interviewee out loud --> reminding the students that they should write answers in the worksheet after every question is asked.
At the beginning of the following class (after interview from last class), teach can place this print-out (to be cut in half by teacher), on the students' desks. They can quietly write down their thoughts --> this is practice writing Thank You Notes. Teacher can then collect the Thank You Notes and deliver them to the interviewee!
