Course Description:
Throughout this course, you will be investigating US and World History to understand the world we live in today, the processes, events, movements and people that shaped this world, and where we can go from here.
Instead of memorizing historical “facts,” we will analyze and interpret evidence in order to construct historical meaning for ourselves. In this class, and in the world around us, we should think like historians! Harbor High teachers specifically selected the units and course of study because we thought this was the most important for you to know the content and skills!
11th Grade History of the Americas is the first year of a two-year International Baccalaureate course in History. In the 11th grade, students investigate key issues, conflicts and developments in United States history with a specific focus on content relevant to IB topics. Students will continue their investigation of these topics in a multi-national context in the 12th Grade. Students can decide if they want to take the IB History of the Americas Higher Level Examination in May of their senior year. Passing this exam will earn you domestic and international university credits :)
