ASB Elections

asb president candidates

liv biehl

Hey Cardinals! My name is Liv Biehl and I am going to be a senior in the fall. I am running for ASB President for the 2023-2024 school year. I currently serve as Junior class president and have loved the experience. Being a part of ASB has given me many opportunities to learn new leadership skills and volunteer in the community. In the past I have helped coordinate dances, manage building the class float for HOCO, helped out as a link leader, participated in public speaking contests, and gone to leadership workshops. All of these activities have helped me grow as a leader and person.

I want to be ASB president because I have many ideas for the future. I want to make our school spirit amazing and make sure every cardinal feels worthy. I want to make sure cardinals feel they are supported by one another. I am great at working with students and want to make sure everyone makes memorable experiences at Santa Cruz High. I want to do this so I can represent my classmates and school and fight for their interests.

Some of my qualities are my dedication, my determination, my courage, and my enthusiasm. I have learned how to get better at these qualities in ASB and am excited to see where they will take me next. I want to be able to grow as a leader and becoming ASB president would let me take that step.

I am looking forward to my second year being a part of ASB. I can’t wait to work with all of you cardinals this coming year.

Liv, Laugh, Love and vote for Liv for President!!

daisy manako

Hey Cardinals!! My name is Daisy Manako and I am currently a Junior at Santa Cruz High School, running to be your ASB President for the 2023-2024 school year!

I have been involved in Santa Cruz High’s many extracurriculars ever since my freshman year. From playing on the indoor and beach volleyball team to welcoming incoming SCHS students at Link Crew, I have loved every single aspect of it all! I have been a committed and passionate member of ASB for the last 2 years, spending this most recent year serving as ASB Secretary!

I feel as though I have used my time in ASB to greatly improve on my leadership skills by helping in the planning of fun school related events like Winter Formal, Prom, Homecoming, Club Rush, and much more. I have also led schoolwide tours and organized the building of the class float when I was Sophomore Class President. I am so grateful for all the skills I’ve developed from ASB so far and I intend to further those skills during my upcoming senior year!

I am running for ASB President to become more involved in Santa Cruz High as a whole, and to better the school in all ways possible in order to make your experience here the best! Earning this position would mean so much to me and I would greatly appreciate your vote!

caitlyn leblanc

Hey Cardinals! My name is Caitlyn LeBlanc and I am running to be your Senior Class President for the 2023-2024 school year! I am currently a junior and I have been in ASB for almost a full school year now! When I first joined ASB, I was quickly attracted to the environment and positive energy that is created in class and for the school as a whole, and I instantly realized that I wanted to make a bigger impact and take on a more important role. ASB has completely changed my perspective on high school and what I want to leave behind after I graduate, and I think by taking on this role, I can make a difference and ensure that my classmates will feel satisfied with their years here as Cardinals! Throughout this past year, I have learned a lot about what it takes to be a leader and I have grown so much with every experience I’ve had, and made amazing bonds and friendships along the way. I have applied the leadership skills that I have learned while helping to plan Homecoming, Winter Formal, Prom, spirit weeks, and other events in order to make smiles and connections at our wonderful school! I attended CADA last semester, a leadership conference and convention for students all around the nation, and I have volunteered a lot of my time outside of school in order to give back to my community.

I am running for Senior Class President because being a part of my school and making each and every student feel like they have a place here is very important to me. I hope to share my ideas and plans, and listen to others' visions for the school, in order to make it the best environment that it can possibly be. As your Senior Class President, I will put the student body’s voice and the school's needs above anything else, and come up with fresh and fun ideas to make the school year as memorable and exciting as ever! Vote Caitlyn for Senior Class President!!!

orion pappas

Born and raised in Santa Cruz, California, I have always been fascinated by the natural beauty of the world and eager to learn about everything around me. Despite spending a year living in Billings, Montana, my heart has always been in California. In 2020, I achieved great success in the field of environmental science, winning first place in the Science and Engineering Fair and placing fifth in the same category. Beyond my passion for science, I have a strong interest in leadership and making a positive impact in my community.

As  Junior President of the Cardinal Car Club, I am currently working on organizing the Cardinal Car Show, an event aimed at bringing car enthusiasts together to showcase their passion. Furthermore, I believe that being the ASB Junior President will allow me to improve the student experience at Santa Cruz High School. As a student myself, I understand the importance of having a positive school environment that promotes academic growth and personal development. If elected my goal as Junior President is to ensure that every student feels heard, valued, and included in the school community. This includes providing more opportunities for students to get involved in extracurricular activities, organizing events that celebrate diversity and cultural awareness, and implementing policies that promote student wellness and mental health.

In addition, I aim to work closely with the administration and staff to address any concerns and make improvements that benefit the student body as a whole. This includes advocating for better resources and facilities, improving communication between students and faculty, and fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.

Overall, I am excited about the opportunity to run for ASB Junior Class president and make a positive impact at Santa Cruz High School. I believe that my passion, dedication, and leadership skills make me the ideal candidate for this position, and I look forward to working with the school community to achieve our goals and create a better future for all students.

I know a lot of Cardinal Alumni that are family friends or family that has given me feedback about what they wished they knew in highschool and what they wish they had within their class. One of them said something that really stuck with me and I wanted to share it regarding the difficult times we had to grow up in …“ Many people say high school is what you make it but it is what WE as a community make it what we want to experience”.

My goal is to come together as a student body and cheer ourselves and our peers on every step of the way and make it not only enjoyable but memorable .I am a people person and a person that wants all of 2026 students to strive and reach their goals.
