The mission of the School of Engineering choice program at Herschel V. Jenkins High School is to provide a stimulating curriculum enriched in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The goal of the program is to produce graduates who are successful in their pursuit of higher education within these fields. We offer honors and accelerated course work in Math, Science, English, Social Studies, foreign language and visual arts, providing a rigorous curriculum and instruction in all subject areas. Parents and students can expect specially trained teachers, smaller class sizes, pairing with students with similar life goals, and college credit without college costs.
The sustainability and longitudinal success of our STEM curriculum is shown not only in the number of students who pass through our School of Engineering, but also by their success in the post-secondary world. We have a 100% graduation rate within the School of Engineering. Additionally, 100% of our graduates who apply to college are accepted. Perhaps more importantly, around 90% of those graduates go on to major in STEM-related fields. Every year, we have graduates going to Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, and Georgia Southern University, with notable college admissions at MIT, UCLA, Medical College of Georgia and Columbia University. Our students earn hundreds of thousands of dollars annually in grants and scholarships. From the moment they step foot into the School of Engineering, our students are on a path to achieve at high levels at Jenkins High School and to succeed in college and careers well past the secondary level.
