I grew up in Savannah, right near Daffin Park, then we moved to Wilmington Island when I was 7 years old. I went to May Howard elementary, Myers Middle, and Johnson High school. I went to Georgia College as an art major and had every intention on transferring to UGA to get a degree in Architecture or Interior design, but I fell in love with GC and decided to stay there all four years. I received my Bachelor of Arts with a focus in Painting and a Minor in Sociology in 2005. I met Mr. Parker my senior year of college and he decided to move back to Savannah with me after college. I started teaching at a small private school (Pre-K- 12th grade art) before I attended SCAD, where I received my Masters in Teaching Art. My first job in public school was at Shuman Elementary, but I wanted the challenge of working with older and more advanced students. I was hired to teach art at the brand new campus of New Hampstead High school when it opened in 2013, where I worked for several years. After having two kids, I took a short break from teaching to focus on family and work part time in Interior Design with a remodeling company. My two years off from teaching gave me the chance to explore my love of interior design and get back into painting and commission work. In 2019 I returned to teaching Art. I got a job at Johnson High School, rebuilding the IB Art program and wearing many hats as the IB Art, 2D, 3D, Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture teacher. This led me to Savannah Arts Academy in 2021! I paint a lot in my free time and I hope that students see me as a working artist and educator. This teaches those who want to make art professionally in their future how to do so.
