DECA is a competitive business club that prepares students and emerging leaders for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, entrepreneurship, and business management. Those involved in DECA can participate in business-related challenges, learning experiences, and competitions at regional, state, and international levels.
For Individual Series Events and Team Decision Making Events, competition is comprised of 2 sections: a roleplay and an exam. The roleplay is a case study that is presented in front of a judge. Competitors are provided an event situation and presentation outline and are given a short period of time (10-30 mins) to prepare a solution. From there, they will present their ideas to a judge who will evaluate the competitor's ability to hit key indicators and points. The exam consists of 100 questions relating to the competitor's event cluster. To practice a test or a roleplay, simply click on the "Practice Test Resources" and "Practice Roleplay Resources" tabs to the left.
Prepared Events consist of a prepared presentation, a 20-page written paper, or a slide deck. These events can be done alone, or as a group of 2-3 people. Prepared Events do not compete at Regionals; they start at States. Some prepared events also take an exam.
