State College Area School District Survey Summary

During the spring of last year, we asked our elementary families and faculty and staff to reflect on our remote learning experiences and make suggestions about growth areas if we need to move to a remote, My School Online, approach again. Here is a link to our summary of the data and what follows are the main themes that emerged:

  • Professional development - trauma informed training

  • Emotional support for children and adults

  • Communication

  • Collaboration across the district

  • Consistency of social and emotional

  • Accountability of student participation and work completion

  • More direct teaching - recorded or live

  • Parents with multiple children wanted one platform like Seesaw for K-5 because parents could access and see Seesaw - need to consider the amount of time needing to prepare

  • All kids with Chromebooks not other devices and that teachers also have Chromebooks

  • Teachers appreciated autonomy

  • Consistency of expectations across the district for teachers

  • Communication of expectations to families - deadlines, amount of work, learning goals (purpose of the assignment)
