Meditation for Everyone with Rachel Witmer

The workshop will start with a share about who has meditated before and why they meditate. All participants will share how they are feeling with a one word answer. I will then read the book "Let’s Sit Down and Meditate" by Katie Stoeckeler. This book teaches children how to meditate and the benefits of doing so. During the read aloud, children will be taught how to hold awareness and attention, settle the mind, and be encouraged to have a calm and emotionally neutral state of being. After the meditation, the children will try two different kinds of meditation and will then write about which position they found to be more comfortable and why. They will then have a chance to draw a picture of themselves meditating and share with other participants. Finally, the children will have a final check in on how they're feeling now compared to before they had a chance to meditate.
