Athletics
The Athletics Task Group is charged to:
To define the main purpose of the Athletics program during the COVID-19 pandemic
To maintain a current knowledge base of guidance that influences sports programming
To synthesize and reconcile guidance on physical activity and sports programming
To understand the challenges of running skill and strength building, intramural, and interscholastic programs.
To create a plan for providing an Athletic program in remote, in-person and hybrid scenarios.
To coordinate with the Steering Committee to facilitate District-wide decisions.
The work of the Athletics Task Group includes:
Summary of Guidance on Interscholastic Athletic Programs and Sports in Scarsdale
A progressive and sequential plan to restart Athletics, consistent with the reopening of school.
Communications
The Communications Task Group is charged to:
To understand progress on restart efforts District-wide
To create a communications plan to support these efforts
To create a Strategic Vision/Statement for this work
Identify appropriate modalities for communication: Digital, Web, Print, and the like.
To coordinate with the Steering Committee to facilitate District-wide decisions.
Develop Communication schedule for the Summer
The work of the Communications Task Group includes:
Website development: Updated in real-time to provide most current information.
Communications Schedule: Bi-Monthly communiques through email blasts and as needed for timely information.
Use of Media: Press releases, Interviews
Food Service
The Food Services Task Group is charged to:
Plan for the safe provision of food in each scenario
Engage food service vendor to develop appropriate screening and operating procedures for contracted workers
Plan for the provision of food to community members if schools close
Investigate financial implications of food service changes in regard to the viability of program and impact on wider operating budget
Human Resources
The Human Resource Task Group is charged to:
Identify health and safety needs in District work spaces
Evaluate staffing needs based on the instructional model implemented and fiscal impacts
Evaluate attendance and leave policies in light of COVID-19 legislation and its impact on staffing
Recommend a plan to account for possible COVID-19 faculty and staff absenteeism
Identify bargaining concerns associated with changes in work conditions for each scenarios
Medical/Nursing
The Medical and Nursing Task Group is Charged to:
Develop appropriate screening recommendations for students and staff upon for return
Identify key areas with high risk of disease spread and recommendation for mitigation of risk in those areas
Develop procedures to address possible cases of COVID-19 identified during the school day and reported to District
Recommend appropriate hygiene practices and requirements with regard to frequency throughout the day
Develop appropriate training for students and staff on health and safety practices and current research on COVID-19's spread
Technology
The Technology task group is charged to develop a plan to support the following beliefs:
Technology is the platform for teaching, learning, and assessment; therefore, all students must have access to appropriate devices, as well as technology resources that can be used at home and at school.
Technology should support District goals, department and grade level goals, as well as programs and practices adopted by the District.
Student health and safety are a District priority, so sharing of devices is minimized when students have access to a personal device.
Technology will be used to replicate familiar classroom experiences when appropriate (in the interest of student and teacher wellness), as well as provide new models and opportunities for thinking about instruction.
Teachers must have continuous access to professional development opportunities so that they can use technology effectively as an instructional tool.
Technology resources should be easily accessible, and technology tools should allow for a simplified workflow to foster communication between teachers and students as well as among students.
Support for the use of technology will be available to all students, as well as parents at the elementary level.
Transportation
The Technology Task Group is charged to:
Develop plans for reduced capacity busing of 50% and under current CDC recommendations
Evaluate both financial and workforce implications for reduced capacity busing
Develop disinfection protocols for buses
Identify and redistribute high population bus stops
Develop work space protocols for Bus Compound
Facilities
The Facilities Task Group is charged to:
Develop a plan for daily disinfection of all District spaces
Identify and procure needed products for appropriate disinfection
Identify and procure needed hand sanitizer stations and products to facilitate regular use in all classrooms
Develop plans to clean classrooms assuming their regular use for lunch
Coordinate with various committees to facilitate restart planning needs
