The library’s mission is to empower students to find, evaluate, and organize information, and then apply and share their knowledge in creative and meaningful ways. The library will strive to create digital and physical spaces that are safe, welcoming, useful, and inspiring for all community members. Students will become lifelong learners who read for pleasure as well as information. They will learn to be conscientious global citizens, ready to collaborate with people from all walks of life to design and implement innovative, equitable, and sustainable solutions to the enormous challenges the 21st century will bring. To support these goals, the library will:
Ensure intellectual, physical, and cultural accessibility in the library spaces and collections.
Collaborate with teachers to support the curriculum with curated resources and opportunities for student-led inquiry, collaborative problem solving, creative self-expression, service learning, and career exploration.
Help students become savvy, responsible citizens by developing a range of literacies, including media and data literacy.
Instruct teachers and students in the use of emerging technologies. Make resources such as makerspaces and AR/VR equipment available for teachers and students to explore both in class and independently.
Cultivate empathy and global literacy by highlighting diverse stories and perspectives.
Promote a culture of reading by organizing school-wide reading challenges and celebrations.
Model environmentally sustainable practices in its day-to-day operations, and support sustainability initiatives throughout the school and community.
