we provide access to subscription databases through MackinVia!

Our "old school" logins still work:  CLICK HERE FOR PASSWORDS.  This doc is available only to @sbstudents or @sbschools accounts.

Our wonderful friends at the South Brunswick Public Library support our schools by sharing access to some amazing databases for teachers, students and families. You will need an SBPL card to access them. We have a set of library cards in-school for student access and students at home can use the card numbers listed on the password page.

Our recommendations include:

NEW World Book Online - Thousands of articles for research and inquiry - the perfect place to start any project! The Early Learning  section provides fun activities for introducing the youngest learners to computer skills and online books.

Book Flix - Lets students "watch the story!" Pairs popular and classic picture books with related nonfiction titles. Appropriate for all ages and great for pre- and emerging-readers!

True Flix - A perfect partner to our curriculum, this database features nonfiction titles from Scholastic's True Books series. Try the read-aloud feature and mini-games to support comprehension.

Encyclopedia Brittanica - A multimedia encyclopedia with read-aloud, translation and citation tools to support students in all curricular topics.

World Almanac for Kids Online - Features concise articles with topical entries for biographies, maps, timelines, primary source documents, images & videos.

Novelist K-8 - Provides book reviews and reading suggestions.

SBPL also provides access to free eBooks and audiobooks through eLibraryNJ (Libby app) and Hoopla!

Kid Friendly Search Engines

Sometimes, students need to find information for school projects on the Internet.  Young students often have difficulty determining accuracy, evaluating bias, and understanding relevancy when selecting online information. When a student wants online information that is not available in one of our databases (see above), try a kid-friendly search engine like Kiddle.
