Evidence: Advisory Website
During my second year working as an advisor at South Burlington, I became frustrated with how information used in our advisory system was disseminated. Over the course of that year I developed a website to house all of the documents, calendars, schedules, templates, etc. that were needed to successfully run the program. Since then, I have gone on to become the Grade Level Lead Advisor for the program and the website has developed into a site that is used for all four grade levels, and is referenced by school districts outside our own for inspiration. The website is maintained by myself and the three other grade level advisors and is used primarily by advisors and their students to deliver advisory curriculum in our school.
Teacher advisors use this web page and are exposed to the various technological tools that we want our students to make use of in their portfolios. There are tutorials on the site, but if that is not enough, teachers know that they can access any of the lead advisors or ITE coach for assistance in things like creating a Google Site, a photostory, embedding videos, and more.
Evidence: Math 1 spinoff of an activity that I designed
The piece of evidence fully speaks to this performance standard. Above is a document that was adapted by my colleague for her Math 1 class from an activity that I originally designed. The teacher had witnessed the fun that my students were having in something as mundane as creating a review document and adapted the lesson for her class. For her, having my original assignment as a stepping stone to creating hers was a crucial piece of the puzzle for her to successfully change her teaching practice.
