ELA Support/Enrichment

Support/Enrichment classes change each quarter based on the needs of students. We use data from MAPs and NSCAS to help us to determine which students are close to either being on track or moving into the advanced category and pull them into a support/enrichment class in order to help them bump over that threshold into their new achievement level. 

Using the data from MAPs and NSCAS as well as thinking about what is being taught each quarter in regular ELA classes, we focus on micro skills that students are struggling with and help them gain a better understanding of the skill. Each week we focus on a new skill. We start the week by taking notes over the skill, practicing together and discussing what they may have missed, using IXL lessons to further practice the skill, completing a worksheet in groups, and, finally, taking a quiz at the end of the week to determine if the students have mastered the skill or not.

If not, we take a break from it and revisit it in a later week.

I have included our google calendar where parents can see what is due when. Most of the assignments in this class will be due at the end of each week.
