Scottsbluff Public Schools - Every Child, Every Day
HALs stands for High Ability Learners and is an extra opportunity for your student to engage in learning that is of interest to them. These students have been identified either in 3rd grade or after they transferred into the district. If your student is a part of this select group, you will receive communication from myself within the first couple of months of the school year (usually mid to late September).
Last year, to begin the year, students chose to work on designing their own tiny homes where they had to financially as well as spatially plan out every part of their home. They were allowed to work in teams of 2 if they wanted. After Christmas, they worked on passion projects. These were completely independent projects with guidance from me or other teachers that could help them complete their projects. We are hoping to add a public night where students will be able to show off their passion projects for the community along with the 6th and 7th grade HALs students.
